m14 question-Factory Seconds

This Marstar 2013 lot is probably the best batch ever imported. The 2012 CanAm shorties may have been the worst. There is definitely some quality differences from batch to batch.
I had an old chu wood one from Marstar I bought sometime back in 05-06....headspace was large, and I never really felt 100% comfortable firing it. There were a lot of tool marks and loose fitting parts, but that was pretty typical of all the M14/305 being brought in then. I wasn't sure what John meant when he said they had to address some production issues but buyers will agree it was worth the wait. These ones are definitely a big improvement over my last one, and with one shim on the cylinder the whole rifle rings like a tuning fork.

Wow....thread starts with a meaningless and ballsless (made that word up) ##### by the OP about a dealer...yes gotta be "xtreme gun shooting centre"...and starts turning into a Marstar love fest. I've no hate against Marstar but I'm seriously into the cups after a bad day at work so herewith be my wrath on the OP and all the taggers....

a) blessed be Jayson of "xtreme shooting sports" for manning up and going through the freaking grief to get us Manitobites (made that up to) another place to shoot. Only place you can go shoot your .223 whatever in doors in January in MB. He gets a few passes from me on customer service for this. I happen to know it was not a pleasant experience for him getting that range in approved. Agreed customer service might not be his strong point, but I like him none the less.
b) The frickin price on a shorty M14 really isn't any worse than anyone elses once shipping is included...check Delsin pricing, and for some of the others do they actually have stock? Doesn't matter, he sells a whack load of guns locally so apparently his pricing is just right! Supply and demand ####heads.
c) Ammo cheaper somewhere else than buy it somewhere else!!!!! What the hell is your beef?
d) Ok, I'll give you the "factory seconds" story is a little weak, but heh we're talking Norinco M14s, getting a straight answer about those things is a bit like finding an 18 year old virgin. Its all in what you want to believe.
e) Got your ass laughed at for asking stupid questions? ####, join the crowd, again man up dumb ass! It happens, grow up!
e) He's got his own brand of 1911s...oooooo I so want one...he gets bonus points for that.

So to the OP...man up and do your research, but heh at least you had an experience and wrote about it. For the taggers, #### you, your comments are worthless and aren't worth the bandwidth. I could care less where you buy from but if you're really that influenced by some meaningless dealer BS, you've got a long hard road ahead of you.

Need more rum...#### this was a bad day....

Bad customer experience there too, and that's after me and my brother had already bought a few pistols there, so i wasnt exactly some tire kicker off the street.

Guy has the potential for a great business. He just needs to stay in the office and hire some smiling and friendly help that knows that swabbing a bore isn't breaking a rifle.

Or does everyone here gladly buy a pig in a poke when dealing with top priced milsurps?

Really? Did the local dealer go to China and pick the cream of the crop? 2 of the main sellers of the M14S do go there. Who do I trust?

^^^^ ROFL ..... Now that's entertainment ^^^^

Dude you are one of my heroes, one of the few I would trust...I'm so glad to you got a laugh out if it! Worth the effort to post to give you a chuckle. You just made my miserable day a little better, thank you!!!!!

The sad thing about Bipolar disorder is that many people struggle with it for years before they are finally diagnosed.V:I:
I wouldn't lump 45ACP in with the manic depressives though, he actually goes out of his way to help newbies to the M14

It would be interesting to hear what John at Marstar has to say about the statement that the M305 rifles Marstar sells are "factory seconds". :sok2
I'd be willing to bet that's unadulterated BS.

I think TS has a valid point, he tried to support the local shop but the guy was a #### so he is gonna spend his money elsewhere. If you are gonna be in retail you need to be knowledgeable, patient, and answer lots of silly questions. There are still enough fudds that never heard of the innernet that will help keep the local shop afloat. But if you want to grow you need to up the game. I wouldn't take that kind of #### either...

Aren't you the one who came to a public forum and ended slagging the store owner. Hey pot, meet kettle!

yeah , but that was deserved. what did i do. no wonder i've heard people avoid this forum like the plague, thanks to guys like you. firearms community? doesn't feel like it.

I'd like to know if the retailer in question knows the manufacture year of the factory firsts he's selling.
Ask him, I'd love to hear his response.

I believe that a retailer telling a customer that the product they are selling is superior..... Based on a lie .... Is kinda like fraud, No?

I'd also like to hear Johnone's comment to this guys claim. More than that I'd almost pay money to be sittin in the same room when he makes that comment LOL

This thread reminds me of the people who complain about high prices on the EE.

NO one is holding a gun to someones head to make them buy.

You did not like the service, don't go back. If you have something to say, say it face to face to the person you have issues with.

I would also like to hear what Johnone would have to say! This "local guy" is spreading misinformation and sounds like he is quite the clown! To make someone feel bad cause he asks a "silly" question is ridiculous. Do we all not have the same interests here? Getting and keeping more people interested, and involved with firearms is good for us and our sport. Yet you have the odd BONEHEAD gun store worker or owner that acts like this. Really.......

This thread is an example of how one ####ty customer experience can spread to several hundred people instantly. Gunshops need to remember that....
