This Marstar 2013 lot is probably the best batch ever imported. The 2012 CanAm shorties may have been the worst. There is definitely some quality differences from batch to batch.
I had an old chu wood one from Marstar I bought sometime back in 05-06....headspace was large, and I never really felt 100% comfortable firing it. There were a lot of tool marks and loose fitting parts, but that was pretty typical of all the M14/305 being brought in then. I wasn't sure what John meant when he said they had to address some production issues but buyers will agree it was worth the wait. These ones are definitely a big improvement over my last one, and with one shim on the cylinder the whole rifle rings like a tuning fork.
