I recently bought a Norc M14 from a member here and it was tweeked and massaged and man can it shoot. I have a CASM scope mount on its way and can't wait to see what it will do when I can actually see the target.

Anyhooo, when the magazine is empty, the bolt is held open. When I pull the magazine the bolt slams forward. Is this normal? I was using a couple of AIA mags that I have, as well as Norc M14 magazines.

No, it should stay back. Thats what the little hindge does on the left side.

It seems to be a magazine issue. There is just a little too much material on the followers on some of my magazines that is preventing that little lever to move out fully and keep the bolt back when taking out the empty magazine.

Should be an easy fix.
Thanks.

I think I had it backwards. There is not enough material on the follower on one of my mags to push up all the way on the bolt hold open lever.

Bolt hold open is a little touchy also and I may be inadvertainly be touching it. I'm new to this rifle.

Could be either of those things. Is it an extended bolt release? Those drop the bolt easier (for tac reloading) but the normal ones it's quite hard to do. If it is a magazine issue you could try layering some jb weld to build some height up.
