M14 Rear Sight Disassembly Help

You didn't mention exactly what you were doing in the first place.

Basically to take it off, unscrew the little lock nut on the right(your windage knob-attached to it is the little nut in the center). Your elevation knob will come off, then you can unscrew the windage knob. Your aperture slides right out once the elevation assembly comes out.

I should've explained what I did first. I just unscrewed the left and right side of the sight. On the right, there is not a typical screw head. Looks like a hollow shaft that has 2 groves cut in the end that a flat head screw driver will fit in. The left side has a flat head screw with a retaining ring underneath. Also the right side shaft is hollow and threaded. I undid each, but was unable to remove the knobs. Everything is loose, but just won't cone apart.

This is a Norc rifle btw. Just wanted to take aprt and clean. The sight works fine.

Thanks in advance.

Look, man, if you haven't taken it apart, seriously consider just blowing it out with compressed air.

I find Nork rear sights to be a little finnicky when it comes to going back together without stripping something. I am always very careful with mine but a few guys I've heard from have stripped theirs without trying hard at all.

So BE CAREFUL! It's a funny sight IMO, and you don't want to be stuck searching for a replacement AFTER your rear sight breaks!

Get a fancy rear sight, THEN take the old one apart...or just leave it alone, and blow it out with air and wd40.

That's my recommendation, anyway.
