M14 Rifle of choice- Colbert, Georgia Swamp, "Life Free or Die" Series Show

I've noticed that Colbert in the reality TV show "Live Free or Die" on National Geographic rocks an M14 in the Georgia swamp.

Now here's what I've discerned so far:

* Filled in flash suppressor, therefore not a USGI version, no bayonet lug, so I suspect Polytech or Norinco from early 90's
* Wood stock likely Chu Wood, any other observations?
* He was successful in lighting up / harvesting a feral wild hog, so that's all good. We know .308 works well, no argument there
* Semi-auto op rod (not FA cuts in the op rod hump forward face) - have a look at your op rod hump, search for the scallop in the USGI versions
* And tonight Colby just lit up a spike horn buck for food.

Any of you M14 lovers out there watch this show? Just seeing the M14 in action sure is fun!

Lots of Norinco's came with the "FA" op-rod too Hungry. But you knew that ;-).

Strangely my 2013 Springfield Armory M1A NM has an "FA" op-rod.

I do watch and was very pleased to see Colbert rocking his M14. People may think the people on the show may be a little off but they do have very very good skills and bushcraft that I wish I had. Colbert made a nice dugout canoe one episode that I was very impressed with.
