M14 ring options

It all depends on your definition of a 'decent' price.

I myself have Leupold QRW Medium height rings, they're at leBaron at 68$.

Cheaper rings will work too, but I like the sturdiness of QRW rings, and it's easy to take off the scope to clean the rifle and put it back with no zero shift. The only thing you need to remember is to get at least medium height rings, if you go for low, your scope's eyepiece won't clear the rear sight. You may need to go for higher rings if your scope has a 50mm or more objective. I've sucessfully mounted 40mm and 44mm scopes with mediums.

I'm also looking for good rings for the same rifle but mounted on the Smith Enterprises "Weaver" mount and used to hold A VXII or Bushnell 4200.

I was thinking about trying the Burris Signature Zee rings ($44.94 at LeBaron) or the medium profile weaver rings at Marstar($21.95).

I would appreciate it if anyone could comment on the quality of either of these rings.

I'd take Burris Zee Rings over Marstar ones any time. I do believe that Marstar are aluminium while Burris are steel.

M14 USGI irons are awesome (not the Norinco ones), get the ARMS #22M quick detach rings so you can use your irons in a pinch. Best of both worlds.

Burris are probably the best value if you are trying to keep the cost down. They are very well designed and you don't need an offset scope base for long range target shooting. They also protect the finish on the scope. I use Burris rings on most of my rifles including my M305 (so far).

That said, I find it very hard to resist the idea that an ARMS mount was designed for quick release optics mounting. Is there any difference in the ability of the rings to hold zero when removed between the Leupold QRW and the ARMS #22? Is one better than the other?

Leopold Weaver style rings don't fit a Smith Weaver mount properly. So the ARMS mount could have a similar issue. Try ### model rings.

What exactly do you mean when you say they don't fit properly? Do you mean they won't attach to the mount properly or that they attach but don't allow the scope to be sighted properly?

I found that the Leupold medium QRWs sit very secure on the Smith 2024 but I couldn't get the scope to sight in.

+1 for Burris Signature Zee, they are awesome.
I picked (dont laugh!) KingArms low 25/30 rings marked as airsoft and described as "parts of toys" in Hong Kong customs declaration :D
They held for two seasons on my M14 no prob, and still there with different glass thu. I have the same on my M10 for about 200rnds. Bought them from eHobby Asia on eBay
Here is their high model
