M14 safety lever

The safety on my new Norc M14 was super hard to budge so I just didn't use it. I put about 500 rounds through it on about 5 different occasions and stripped it completely and cleaned it each time. Just two weeks ago when I was reassembling it I pushed the safety and it engaged as smooth as butter. Maybe yours just needs to be broken in as well.
 
I'm getting one after the 12th, so this helps me to expect issues and figure them out. I'll be asking a lot of questions after that.
 
Well turns out it was just super stiff. Thanks for all the responses. I have my stock stripped and almost ready to refinish. :)
