m14 scope mount

most, if not all of the decent scope mounts require the removal of the charger guide as a second anchor point- or 3rd if you count the horizontal rail and vertical piece the forward screw mounts into- what you're looking for is one with a single mounting point- even then you have to be careful as to what scope you use as it will block the tunnel from the top - 32mm is about as big as you can go -most of us are committed to either scope or irons but not both unless you dismount the scope- even if you get a tunnel mount, your limited to "battle " sights only ie 200 meters) as the scope mount doesn't allow you to elevate properly

Basset mounts are pretty much recognized as the only "decent" on-off scope mount for the M1A on the firing line forum....

I recently sent them an email asking if they ship to Canada, I received no response.....

All of the others I have used need the clip guide slot to mount, which pretty much means it's not an easy on-off unit....

You need to decide what type of shooting your going to do. If the rifle is going to be a long range 300-600 rifle then just go with a CASM mount like I did and you won't regret it. If your going to hunt within 100 m then stay with the iron sights

I have a scout scope mount on my Norc, the type that replaces the handguard with a pic rail. They're made by Amega Range and Ultimak (honestly don't recall which mine is), as well as by M14.ca. They don't block the sights, and allow the instant removal of the scope...but it has to be a scout scope or handgun scope. I love the set-up, other folks don't, YMMV. I rarely take the scope off, although I might do it more often if I ever replace the fairly crappy rear sight on my Norc with a GI version.

sadlak and arms18 come to mind to keep your irons. see thru mount., if you buy cheap you will replace it. it,s a .308 , not a .22. commercial recievers can vary in specs, so mounting can be a bit of a fiddle. scope gives added weight. it is nice to switch from scope to irons without removing the scope. with my old eyes they tire quickly with irons.
