Hey all

Finally started building up my Norc M14, just picked up a nice USGI walnut stock but i want to put some glass on top and I need some advice.

the three scopes ive been considering are:

Millett DMS
Millet TRS
Bushnell Elite 3200

Im going to need to get the mount first, probably the Arms 18 but I wanted some opinions on these scopes. which do you think would be the best option for the M14? also what rings would you recommend?

I would like to be able to shoot accurately out to 500 meters. Please dont recommend Leupold, love the scopes but can`t afford them.

thanks

Mason.
You should be able to shoot with iron sights to 500m,for starters.Your rifle is good out to about 800-900m then it goes subsonic.Get the best scope you can buy,I use Leupold as a baseline then go up from there.Smith and Sadlak make good bases,Sadlak can custom fit your base, check out web site, good idea for non usgi rifles.Rings? Leupold Mk4
Niteforce,Badger all good rings.Shoot with irons until you can hit steel at 500.Save your money buy leupold mr/t

I got a Sportsman 3-12 IR mildot on a Arms 18 mount with Iron sight's scope rings and love this set-up! up to 50 meter I use iron sight's and from 50 to 300 I use my scope. The only bad thing is that I haven't shot this baby over 300 cuz I am to lazy to walk that far to change the targets.

I have an Bushnell Elite 5-15x mildot, I'm happy with it so far. Glass is decent, light gathering was better than I thought.

Why not look at the Falcon Menace 4-14x44? You can price one up new for $400.

As for mounts I would look @ Smith or ARMS, you might want to try and source one out before you get your scope as they are a bit tricky to find, Wolverine Supplies carries the ARMS product line, but in stock may be a problem and you may have to wait until the next shipment comes in. They do pop-up on the EE now and again. I would stay clear of the cheaper M14 scope mounts, you will not be happy with them in the long run.

I just bought three ARMS mounts from Wolverine so they should still have a few in stock.

As for the scope, my current plans are:
1x Elite 3200 10x mildot
1x Leupold VXIII 4.4-14x40
1x red dot of some sort (thinking eotech 552 right now)

What are you going to use the scope for? Paper targets, hunting, or ?

heres my M14 with ARMS 18 mount and Bushnell Elite 3200

x2

But I have a Sandlak mount.

I feel the Falcon have the best value per price point in this range. My friend recently came out to a shoot with me and he was amazed at the clarity of the optics (He is a hardcore ACOG and Leupold user) I have a Leupy on my other M14 and the Falcon is nearly as clear at the Leupy. The one thing is that the Leupy is more forgiving in terms of eye relief. The Falcon you need to me "more on"

Good luck toya!
