I like my Garand sights on my Shorty but would like to add a Vortex Sparc or Bushnell TRS-25 on a scout scope mount like this .I have both of those redots on different rifles so i can try them both .
Does anyone have this setup and if so do the iron sights cowitness with the reddot and did the reddot mount all right .I am thinking this mount may put the rd dots up too high for a cowitness with my iron sights...any ideas ?

That's my rifle. I never tried it with anything other than a Burris FastFire or an Aimpoint Comp M2 in a low ARMS mount.
The FastFire's dot appeared right on the upper arc of the Navy sight, which sucked, and the M2 was too tall to co-witness.
It's possible a TRS-25 or Micro would co-witness.

Bushnell TRS-25 red dot ,recently tweaked at Hungrys Milcun clinic
I can 1/3 co witness my iron sights , just got it together and hope to fire it soon .
I have a Vortex Sparc if I dont like this setup but so far so good
The receiver dimensions of the new shorty seem different than my 2 polytechs and a 2009 Norinco I compared it to .
I have a differnt USGI stock and previously tried both my polytechs and another Norinco and they would all work fine but the Shorty wouldnt fit and failed the trigger test ...
I purchased a new stock and both my polytechs would work fine in it and it came off of a Norinco but the shorty wouldnt work again . I took out quite a bit of material under the trigger pads and under the trigger housing to get it to work .
Dont forget to do the test after assembly after you remove a bit at a time..

If your rifle swings that way, don't out it. Remember don't ask, don't tell ;-)

ive had the same setup basically and it was rock solid.
now, if you were shooting targets while the rifle was slung up and hanging off your back, it might affect the POI/POA... you would also be an amazing shooter.

Here is my recent purchase
Haven't had chance to shoot with it lately since it's winter and hard to drive all the way to range but start to building it up.
I bought from previous owner, Shorty with navy or HK style front sight with scope mount. Bolt release button is installed and butt stock is trimmed to shorten the length of pull, it is just plain rubber so I ordered recoil pad to replace it.
Got 11 mags total, there was 3 mags deal, rifle came with multiple mags and wanted try new plastic mags so I bought two, with Bayonet that I bought from Ebay, which now became useless since I have after market flash hider.
Bought bushnell trs-25 red dot right before christmas and S&J spring rod guide and cheek riser is coming, hard to pass by boxing week free shipping combo deal. I also ordered cheap magpul rail and AFG to install.
