M14 SEI Navy Muzzle Brake Questions

I have a M14 SEI Navy Muzzle Brake on the way but wanted some input on the following:

Going to be mounting front and rear BUIS, so the sight on the dovetail is unnecessary. Is it possible to work the dovetail down so that is flush or less pronounced?
