After my recent near death experience last Saturday evening,
where I dropped my motorcycle on an oil patch at the top of the Malahat trying to avoid the two cars in front of me that had spun out and were blocking BOTH lanes,
and after
I skidded on my helmet face guard several feet before my helmet stopped my forward motion by impacting the rear tire of the car in front of me,
and after
rolling into the ditch and watching as, only a few seconds after I did my face plant, the following traffic smashed into and drove over my FJR 1300 ,
I'VE BEEN THINKING!!!

Every one of the professional accident experts that talked with me, from the RCMP, the tow truck operator, the ambulance crew, the ER staff, all tell me I am VERY LUCKY to be alive.

And I do feel LUCKY!!!

Instead of the expected post traumatic stress, depression, and anxiety,
I actually feel more alive, more energetic, and basically revitalised.

It feels like I got a free pass ...
today REALLY IS,
the first day of the rest of my NEW life.

I was incredibly lucky to survive, or had good Karma ....
whichever way you want to look at it.

So now, I feel like I should be repriming the Karma pump by doing something unselfish. Being unselfish IS somewhat rare for me, but i think I owe the universe for my free pass, and want to pay off that debt.

SO,
even though I said I was not going to teach any more M14 seminars,
if we can get enough Islander interest, and we can find a venue,
I am offering to teach another M14 seminar here on scenic Fantasy Island.

Reply to this thread if you are interested.

Previous attendees are still welcome ....
this time around it might be even more kinky,
as we have some interesting M14 related projects on the go,
and may have some interesting M14 accessories available for show and tell.

I do not currently have an M14, nor does my buddy, but I can say with confidence if the date is right we'd both be interested in coming from PR.

Edit: Read your accident post also, glad you are okay!

And why do you think I'm doing all these M14 clinics? I told all of ya, one of these days, I'm gonna get run over by a school bus driver and then there goes the M14 knowledge. :(

I gotta pass on this stuff before I get killed!

Glad to have you around this forum , Laz! :)

*sigh*
*BIG SIGH*

Makes me wish I could attend... It would only be a 15 - 16 hour drive and, as the comedian Ron James says, a whole lot of "that itchy plane a$s". (direct quote from his "Lake Superior / Air Canada" material)

Then I could join in on this awesome tradition called The M14 Clinic. :sniper:

Wow!!!

Wow! I'm in Duncan and know that freaking hi-way; it's tricky enough riding it right-side-up. I'd be very grateful to attend one your workshops, but will be here only until mid-October. All the best!

Glad to hear you are OK...Sorry to hear about your bike....I wanted to get one of those FJ 1300 when I sold my Venture.....got a ZX1200 ninja instead.

I dumped my honda 750 on that same highway while posted to 3 ppcli in Vic.

It is a great hwy for bike riding ..we used to race around shawnigan lake..lol

I am planning on getting a polytech 305 from my local dealer here in Petawawa .... I just signed up for this website and think this site is very helpfull thanks for all the great info

Count me interested.

Sorry to hear about the malahat incident, that highways a deathtrap for even the most aware of drivers.... no shortage of idiots bombing down the highway going 160, and tailgating all in their way.

OK FINE,
it looks as if there will be enough interest TO JUSTIFY ANOTHER Fantasy Island M14 clinic.

I'LL TRY TO ORGANISE A TIME AND A VENUE.

What looks most promising is the VIACA Victoria TWO DAY gunshow, happenning
Sat Oct 30/Sun Oct 31 @ the Saanich fair grounds, 1528 Stelly's cross roads, Saanichton, BC.

I'll explore our options for that time/place.
Probably Sunday,10:00 - 3:00, Sunday,
if the show comMittee allows it.

Otherwise, some DATE after that, at the North Saaanich Rod and Gun .... which gives uS the option of actually shooting our 14s AFTER the tricks and tweaks have been done.
or,
MAYBE both???

HJOOOOYAH!!!

AS I get more information, I'll post the updates,

Lazerus,
I'm in. Although dont they usually do something for halloween on the 31st at the saanich fairgrounds? Might be worthwhile to check to see if the VFGPA clubhouse is being used that day? (And I live at the base of the malahat ;) )

Good call though, I've been neglecting my Norinco (I've been using my 43' Garand instead) cuz she needs a little TLC, I'd love to get some knowledge knocked into my head by those in the know.

Count me in either way!

(and lets not cancel this one! :p)
