No, I wasn't meaning to bust Skullboy. I'm afraid if I bought one I'd want to shoot through it and see if it worked. Then if it worked I'd be terribly conflicted.

Hey Skullboy;

Now you can poke your target, see if it "reacts" and THEN pull the trigger... he he he...

That setup will sure turn some heads...

Cheers
Jay

Sure it is.......

What you have now is a politically correct bayonet....poke, blunt force trauma, but no penetrating sucking pneumothorax.....

Other than that....I think I need some 'me' time, those photos gave me some blood flow... :)

Aren't cans legal? I thought if it wasn't a sound suppressor in any way, if it was just for aesthetics, you were good to go.

Yes? No?

If it's not a sound suppressor (as in this case) it's not a can. It's perfectly legal.

Skullboy's decision to not fire the gun with it attached is a safety one, not a legal one. Airsoft stuff is not designed to stand up to real firearm stresses.

Not to mention the fact that the hole is most likely 6mm wide, and a 7.62mm bullet would strike it and most likely blow it to kingdom come.

Why? He clearly stated his intent - just for looks.

Besides, it's the internal structure that matters for the legal definition of a suppressor. There is no fricking way that an airsoft suppressor would suppress a real gunshot. (Most airsoft suppressors are just filled with open cell foam that would not stand up to burning nitrocellulose based gunpowder.)

If it looks like a duck, smells like a duck, is sold as a duck and people call it a duck..it's a duck. It does not matter if you say you are only going to polish your car with it. It's "intent" is as a supressor. Given the right judge, a shiny new lawyer could make a case of it, a good lawyer could get you free room and board.

Actually it's intent is as a "prop".

Airsoft "suppressors" or "barrel extensions" (as they are sometimes called) are perfectly legal and are not designed/meant for actual use on real firearms.

Sound like the Airsoft community has a lot of full automatic ducks to get rid of with that reasoning.

The pic had the duck on a firearm...it's no longer a prop.

This is in your "expert" legal opinion right??????;)

IMHO, no different then running a fake nitrous system on your street vehicle. As long as it isn't functional, you are ok.However active Nitrous systems are illegal on the street.

Guess I won't tell you about the dummy selector kit on my other M14..............

It's all in the LCF my friend. If you are that worried, maybe quit reading this thread......:p;)

Interesting...a statement about the interpretation of law makes you think I am worried. This is a case of someone pointing something out to you that could possible save you a world of hassle. Are we, the firearms community, so far in the forest as to not be able to see the trees? Lawyers make their living on interpretation of law. Why would you openly flaunt something in a public forum that in todays anti-gun world could open you up to someones interpretation of the objects intent in a court of law. If you are not worried then don't respond to my telling you that your shoe lace is untied. Yes, your pic is not the end of the world, but someone pointing out the open manhole is in reality just being careful.

SH*T, my shoelace is untied??????

Thx. I could have tripped and broken my neck......;)

Seriously, the concern is appreciated, but I am not worried about this.

Law is about intent...I'd be careful with what you show the world on a public forum.
(c) a device or contrivance designed or intended to muffle or stop the sound or report of a firearm,
As far as the law regarding suppressors is that If any device that is added to a firearm that reduces the sound DB level it is a prohibited device .If the device doesn't reduce the sound Db Level it is not regarded as prohibited device and there fore intent plays no part in the Law
