M14 sling.

I dont know about yours, but mine and my brother inlaw's are junk. flip the clamp over and give it a tug. it wont hold.

test yours out first before clipping it on, those clips are tuff to get on/off lol

I am using chineese sling but I had to cut off ends with those flimsey metal parts. That plus those were making way to much rattle when walking - no good for hunting.

I got it after some help from some pliers.
It does make quite a bit of noise.
Perhaps an after market sling is in order.
Anyone have any ideas of any good slings for the m14?

I tossed the supplied one in a drawer and put on a Butler Creek Alaskan Magnum to facilitate carrying the heavy beastie around in the bush for deer season. It takes a lot of weight off and fits nice.
Others here have used 3-point tactical type slings, I'll let them speak for themselves.

we used to use an m60 sling- only the newbies and parade guys had the issue- which tended to rot in the heat and humidity- plus the 60 sling was longer and all nyon so bigger guys could balance it better- i should doubt if you can get them across the border anymore-these were also free( you just put in an extra req with the q/m when ordering spares for the 60- never noticed as long as you did it one at a time near the end of the"projected life" of the item- or lost in combat- retail was about 8 bucks way back when- they also had that wide padded bit over the shoulder-

i wish that was the sling that is shipped with norc's but its not.

I actually pulled this sling off my Winchester M1917 and put it on my M-14 since I rarely take my 1917 out anymore. Thanks for the link on assembly. I took mine off to paint the stock, left it off for a while, then couldn't remember how it went back on.

Additional comment: This sling totally rocks. Apparently it wasn't correctly installed on my M1917 either, and even if it was, I didn't know how to use it properly. There is this crazy process that, when you finally figure it out, locks this thing solidly to my left arm. I love it.

I put an Enfield sling on mine. It's a ww 2 issue canvas with brass hardware. Quiet and bears the load well. Best of all it fit in the M14's sling loops. A little Canadian touch to a US designed rifle. It looks good too.
