Just wondering what type is preferred to go on your M305, the sltted of the solid fiberglass piece, I have the slotted and like the look of it very much it but it is a little flimsy, any suggestions.

US military did away with the slotted handguards because they were easily broken. They were to help with cooling but they would also trap dirt and other junk which would/could hinder the movement of the operating rod. Solid handguards were sturdier and greatly reduced the amount of junk getting around the barrel/Op Rod. Personally I like the look of the slotted hand guard but I don't own one(would still like to have one).

IMHO, if you were to take your rifle hunting, pack it in the bush somewhere, get yourself a solid. Then you can always switch back and forth :)

They where build for full auto use to help cool your barrel. I have one on my E2 and one on my "project BIG RED" tanker build. Yes look cool and never had a problem with heat affecting my sights. Your m14s came with a solid so you should have both. Mr potato head gun. Try them both and enjoy. Cheers jeep
