Have a couple of m14's now and am considering getting another one and chopping it to 16 inches (just because). Other than resticted status which doesn't bother me, are ther reliability issues or modifications to the gas system needed. Tried the search and it's useless. Was at the last m14 clinic and forgot to ask Hungry. Any help appreciated.

Nope...... cut her and rereggie as restricted and yer good to go blastin. You may have to play with the loads a bit to find the one that the shorty likes but no other mods are required for functionality. obviously you will need a new front sight.
