I took my new M305 to range for the first time today and had a couple of issues. The rifle would not cycle right from the start, I checked the spindle valve and it was in fact not in the vertical position. I repositioned the valve to the vertical which was done with almost no effort and tired again. Still the rifle would not cycle (no movement at all) so I had a closer look at the spindle valve. A small push from the opposite side and out came the spindle valve:eek:. I am guessing by the second hole in the valve that there should be some type of cotter pin or retainer to secure the pin? Any help is much appreciated.

If you are stuck for that spindle valve retaining pin, let me know. Ensure that you don't lose that spindle valve spring that's keeping tension on the spindle valve pin.

Go and have a look right now, then get back to us!

Don't want anybody's #### to fall off! :nest:

Youre such a nice M-14 Daddy, always looking out for your chilidren!!!

Thanks my #### is still there, I mean I do have the spring. Side note is that the spindle valve is so tight that once it is in the spring does not have enough tension to pull the spindle valve back. Once I have a new pin I guess I'll just push from the oposite side until the pin is tight and hope that works. I will try to find a pin at CT, anyone know the size?

this is the SECOND spindle valve incident we've had - wonderful how the guys all pull together, but i'm wondering if we shouldn't put up a memo or something to tell these guys what to look for BEFORE they buy if it's at a store- i realize the mail order guys are luck of the draw, but better some informed than after the fact?

I'm guessing 1/16", but my wife reminds me that I might have my head up my butt! :D Smallest pin going... get a few of each since they are very inexpensive.
