Today's oh-so-trendy M14 is all about tradition! Leather! Steel! And WOOD!!! Behold the stylish leather cheek pad I made!

Well the first proto type cheek riser is finished and it isn't perfect...but it isn't half bad either. I wanted to go for a CGN motif but I despise that fat, buck toothed rodent with the beret that we have for a mascot. I figure that if I am going to have a mascot it should reflect MY gunnut qualities: big, stinky, shaggy and MEAN!
The buffalo concho and the maple leafs back-fired on me, the riser give the gun a bit of an RCMP-ish look I suppose.
The next one will have bigger eyelets and less of them; and less bloopers with the stitching (I had to tear this one apart several times before I got a working model). It may look like hell boys...but this booger SHOOTS! I will build a more professional looking pad soon.
I like my little do-it-yerself projects, they keep me busy when the weather is crappy and I don't want to go out on the range. Do you guys have any M14 related arts n crafts? I would love to build a gun box for this thing. I once saw an ingenious box built by a BPCR geek for his buffalo gun that had an integral gun cradle built into it so he could set the gun in the cradle and mop the bore between rounds. Have any of you guys ever built something similar?
