Just got off the Phone with Boyds'.... They no longer make the National Match stock for the M1A :bangHead:

You guys happen to know of a Match type stock I can get for my M14 for around $100? I would need to have it before the Calgary M14 Clinique. The primary reason I wanted the Boyds National Match stock is because of the Steep angle on the grip. I don't like having to bend my wrist so much when I shoot.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! If you guys happen to have anything you're selling, let me know!

*eta2... I ordered the Boyds' National Match stock through Champions Choice (ww w.champchoice.com/detail.php?item=300333). They seem pretty good. They are sending it through USPS for me instead of UPS. It was $125 though without a handgard. They said they have had problems before sending to Canada through both USPS and UPS so hopefully it gets through without any problems.

Well, I heard the new limit (Canada only) is $500, so you should be good if I didn't hear BS. I think the other stock is a McMillan, so you know that will be at least an arm, a leg, and a testicle. Hope it gets through for you.
 
i'm going down to pick up some items from my u.s. P.O. box just across the line from where i live in canada (b.c.) and will be putting this 500.00 limit to the test.... can't seem to get anyone on the phone with canada customs that has a clue what they are talking about.... talk to 10 different people get 20 different answers. It's like that here in canuckistan though.
I'll see if i can remember to give ya'all an update.
 
i'm aware of that claven, but can customs still had no info on who i could contact on the u.s. side... well no specifics anyways... they were not at all helpful or forthcoming.
I'll be down in washington on a fishin trip next week so I'll find out while i'm at the border... before i return with my goodies :D
 
"...limit has ZERO to do with..." And if you try to export ANY M14 parts, you'll need the export permit. The M1A is NOT an M14. It's a commercial rifle. Hence, no export permit required for M1A parts.
The higher limit for Canadians is mentioned on Gunparts' "Ship out of the U.S." page and one other site I looked at. Don't remember who though.
 
OK, my Copstock just got here from the US. It was about $170 with a sling and got here with no problems. It took 16 days to get here.

Don't think I'm gonna bring the 12ga to Calgary but ya never know :D

So my National Match stock went in the mail today. If it takes as long as the Knoxx I should have it before the Calgary Clinique :rockOn:
 
So it took 10 business days and cost me $170 but my new Boyd's stock is in my hands ($125USD-stock, $25USD-Shipping, $20CAD-Gov't thievery).

The unit fits pretty tight in the stock :eek: but it looks pretty good. It's going to need a finish, some minor shaping and a proper fitting in the stock. Hopefully Barney will be able to help me out with it this weekend :D

I talked to Boyd's yesterday, they have stopped all production of M1A stocks and lot of the other stock they once had. They are quoting too many orders and not enough time to complete them. They may resume production later...

That is an insane business decision! They're stopping production because they've got too many customers??? WTF? In cases like that you EXPAND your production line, not close it!
 
Guys , rumor is ,that Boyd's is haveing internal problems . Clem Boyd is going out on his own and is looking into producing M1 Garand stocks and a few others that will sell well .
Sounds to me like a "Splitting of the sheet" and going their separate ways .
 
with all the skilled craftsmen is canada..... why the heck has no one stepped up to prduce similar products this side of the border..... the demand is clearly there. We are addressing the synthetic side of things..... product hitting the market in the new year and you will see it here first :D
