I just bought a Super Match . So wondering if there would be any upgrades I should consider. I picked a casm mount (steel) , turner sling and voodoo cheek riser to start. Also any tools I might need. Thanks

Aside from that, just standard gun cleaning stuff and a supply of grease and you should be good to go.

I have an M1A/M14 bolt disassembly tool - it's amazing. Also works on the M1 Garand bolt if you buy one with the two adjustable holes for the lever. Can order from Brownell's or Amazon. Brownell's has a neat video on how they work. Yes, there are other ways to use the rifle itself and a spent 30-06 cartridge to disassemble the bolt, but I prefer this tool.

Tony.

USGI extractor, just in case.

Usgi hammer, trigger, sear, hammer pin and trigger pin.... Just in case too.
Oh....
And just because it's a springfield.... make sure you can slide a piece of thin paper under your bolt roller at full lock up. (Oprod removed)

Just did everything on my trigger with USGI except the housing and trigger guard. I broke the first trigger pin with 18 rounds through it. After several hundred the replacement pin from Springfield was bent. I also replaced all the bolt guts with USGI. That should cover the high risk SAI parts.

Good point! This was more common in 90's era SAI rifles but I haven't heard of it being a problem in post-2000 era rifles.

I have found trigger issues and or bolt roller contact on "most" of the SAI rifles I have examined in the past few years. Matter of fact, on december 6th at my M14 clinic in surrey, espresso604's beautiful springer showed bolt roller contact... Brand new rifle I believe.
The problem still exists.
Maybe they just send the junk rifles north LOL
I didn't need another reason to trash on SAI rifles... But now I'm convinced that they are just overpriced, over hyped junk

They are obviously overpriced @ 2000$ or so for their bottom of the line M14.
But to call them junk!!11one! :p

When i was looking, the James River Armory rifle's did look like the better rifles to me esp considering they are about the same price.

In full disclosure, the rifle at the clinic was also very slightly out of index as well as having bolt roller/receiver contact. Not junk, that is a strong judgement, but bare minimum 800 over priced at the rack grade
But.... Let's put all that aside and get back on topic hehehe sorry for my obvious bias ;)

If my hand-loaded m305 shorty shoots sub-moa @ 100 yards in the coming week's
We can then call them junk together 45acpking.

I am hoping that actually happens.

To call a Springfield junk because of its bolt roller issue , which can be corrected very easy isn't fair. I would emagine that not every rifle has this problem. It seems that the ones that don't own a higher end rifle are the first to bash them but that's another topic. The reason I asked about upgrades is because SA's web site is very limited with specs. Thanks Tony for the videos
