I am in the process of putting my M305 into a Boyd's stock and need to find a USGI M14 buttplate. Where would one start to look for one of those in Canada? Can the M305 be adapted to nicely onto the Boyd's?

I'd be very surprised to hear that the Norinco buttplate was too far from USGI spec to work.
But if you are dead-set on a USGI buttplate them I'd say Marstar would be your best bet... it'd still be a long shot; but I can't think of anyone more likely.

Treeline has them http://w ww.treelinem14.com/main.sc also I had no problem in putting a USGI buttplate on a Boyd's stock. The USGI ones are two ounces lighter than the Norinco ones, since the USGI buttplate is aluminum with a steel trap door and flip up, were as the Norinco ones are all steel. I find that the USGI buttplate balances the rifle a little better when carrying it.

I got mine from treeline as well as the rest of the metal. I just finished putting my m305 into my boyds stock, everything fit like a glove. The buttplate was a little marked up but not that bad.
