What would you want for your m-14(s) if a Canadian manufacturer asked for your input. What changes would you make to current products if you were able to?
I am currently quite busy with 870 accessories but I am looking to the future.
Constructive input is appreciated:popCorn:

A compact muzzle brake that adds minimal length to the barrel.

A Vortex like flash suppressor that fits the metric threads of a Norinco

a steel scope mount like the SMITH ENTERPRISE 2024

great, keep the ideas coming.

Do you think a muzzle brake would be in high demand with the somewhat light recoil of the m-14? Would it be for the Look cool factor?

On the muzzlebrake, I'd like to eliminate, what I see as the needlessly long birdcage style flash suppressor. However, the barrel wouldn't look right, nor would the crown be protected with bare threads. So that leaves options of what to replace it with. A simple metric threaded device, that is hollowed out so that it goes 75% down the barrel before engaging threads would give the barrel that chopped look, without actually cutting it down. As for its surface appearance, that's another question. I would however like to be able to fire a shot through the scoped rifle and see the bullet hit (if possible) or at least have the scope remain on target, and that's where a muzzle brake would be desirable. No there isn't much recoil, but the gun does seem to jump up and to the left on each shot, requiring re-aquisition of the target in sights.

You would prefer weaver to picatinny 1913?

How many prefer smith simply due to potential jamming with arms?

If one could have an arms rail milled out and re-parked would that be of interest? Since many of us have dropped the coin on an arms 18 already.

Anyone else like this idea? I think it has some potential

I love the idea of a fake break/flash hider/suppressor/whatever that attaches this way. A chop job with no chopping!

Now that I think about it, a cheek rest that attaches without looking like it was made by a 10-year-old, perhaps adjustable, would also be nice.

Has any experimentation ever been done on the m14 using something similar to the Ruger Mini-14's target harmonic balance tuner that goes on the end of the barrel? Maybe you could put a set screw on the dummy brake and we could try tuning it for accuracy?

How about this. You make a piece that threads on the barrel that is a sleeve having coarser acme type thread on the outside, we locktite that in place. Then a harmonic balancer that looks like a flash suppressor screws over top of that and adjusts for accuracy?

1-cheeckrest

2-muzzle brake

3-cost effective quality optical sight mount (potentially this could mount differently than the current systems)

Barrels are not an option for me at this time, but maybefor someone else?

lets keep up the brainstorming

How about an adapter piece that allows you to easily chop the GI stock and replace the rear with an M4 stock and pistol grip? Kinda a poor man's sage. Bolt some rails to the front and away you go.

that can get pricy as the shape of such an adaptor would likely require casting. But this is brainstorming and sometimes there is an outside the box solution.

I know this may seem vague or too large in scope...

...Canadian made replacements for all parts in the rifle.

I guess this would be pretty complicated but the ultimate would be bolts that allow for commercial .308.

But the next best thing in my opinion would be an ARMS style mount with the center section milled out to allow brass by, something like the old ARMS mounts. Or a milled face with a better angle on it for ejection. That's my wish list!

An oversized bolt to bring Norincos headspace into SAAMI .308 NOGO limit.

I have not seen any Norinco M14 that would be safe to fire .308 Win.
All of them (11) were over .308 FIELD limit. The smallest I've seen
was 1.6380"
