What is the headspace in your M14?
If the headspace is LESS than 1.6380", it is considered to be safe to fire .308 Win.
If the headpace is 1.6380" or longer, you are shooting outside of SAAMI specs.
Shooting .308 Win from a rifle with headspace longer than 1.6380" is ok as long
as the rifle does not explode. If it does, well, you'll know that the headspace was too long

GGFB & M14ALCS discussed either milling different angle or retro making the original design ARMS 18 in a thread I questioned about messing with the ARMS mount.

An angle would likely be adequate (ALTHOUGH THERE ISN'T MUCH MATERIAL TO WORK WITH) but taking the xtra material out would ensure no hangups.
As stated, it would not be a big job either way. Retrofitting could be done relatively cheaply.

I am always confident shooting .308 through my norks...ONCE! I want to shoot it four or five times. If I had a .308 chamber I could reload the brass for a while.
how much interest would there be in a bullbup stock with integral rail mount?
this would solve all optical sight mounting, iron sight replacement, and barrel chopping dilemas. It would look bad ass and improve handling and potentially accuracy.
It would have an ambidextrous cocking handle and safety as well.

Yeah, I can. An add-on, aftermarket bull-pup stock would be prohibited. That's sort of a deal breaker.

Stevo you need to explain to me how the firearm would be fired while removed from the stock.......as far as I can understand if it cannot be fired while removed from the stock it ain't prohib
The M-14 can be fired with no stock. It ain't pretty, it aint reliable, but it will go bang, therfor this is a bad thing here in Canuckistan, and our dedicated Govt is there to protect us from bad things..
In the US. there have been several M-14 Bull Pup stocks, but US law is different than Canukistani law.

the Tavor comes in as non-restricted because it was manufactured a bulpup? But still has a prohib device in its parts as per the description.

Now back to the original question on page one. If a Canadian manufacturer was to step up and make some parts for us m14 lovers; what would they be?
1)I would love to see someone make a carbon fibre/honeycomb composite(or other) stock in the U.S gi NM synthetic style. Basically a stock much stiffer than a fiberglass stock but not all metal that we could drop our Norinco's into.
The U.S. web site m-14 forum is offering one via "huey gunner". Also some nice tiger stripe wood birch stocks for the more traditional but classy look.
2)New bolt
3)Ready to go parts kit(springs,roll pins,shims,lube....) and service tools all conveniently packaged for long term use in a tool roll or plastic container.
4)Medium weight barrel in 18.5 and 22 (4groove 1 in 10)
5) Basically a one stop on line shop for all your m305,m14s,m14, needs but here in Canada. No one in Canada currently offers this.
Whether you choose to make all the stuff yourself or import some to fill the gaps is up to you . However the big problem is just finding someone who has it all, and in stock ready to ship. Organize your web site to list all the stuff and prices.

we have been hard it when it comes to bringing a new synthetic stock to market. A tedious process but it's coming. Obviously i can't say much at this point but to tell you this.... an aluminum/synthetic hybrid is in the works and you will see it here on cgn first.

it sounds like the majority of us want nothing fancy, just
1 replacement parts for wear or upgrade.

Apparently some Home Depots carry M14s for sale.
Then you should check out the parts for roll pins(admittedly, not easy to get the proper ones all the time).
Then stop by the section with FG and marine products. Get some FG cloth and resin+hardener (alternative, Walmart ).
If you are willing to DIY, make yourself a NM style fat-bastard stock by wrapping the stock with the FG cloth and shaping accordingly after.
Bolts and barrels would be MIA from Home Depot of course.

why does everyone do all the fiberglassing work to us gi fiberglass stocks? As far as norinco m14 rifle parts go, breaking the gun down--what are the good parts and what are the bad parts? This should create a list of parts which should be in demand. Then the big question---will people buy them and make it profitable to have them made.
