M14 with wandering horizontal zero

"...scoping my M14 is pointless..." Not always, but you don't have an M14. You have a Chinese made copy. Real, highly accurized, scoped, M14's are being used by the U.S military. The scope mounts are pricey and don't always fit properly.
The issue fiberglass stocks aren't that great either. Have one on a real semi'd Winchester M14 with everything else being as issued. I find it causes a lot of muzzle jump due to the lower weight. Bought it when issue scope mounts were $100. Didn't have the $100.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the scoped m14. I'm pleased with what I do with the iron sights, so maybe that's the way I should leave it. But part of me can't resist the challenge of figuring out what I'm doing wrong. I thought the Smith Ent M21 mount I am using would be foolproof. Its properly torqued, sits flat, and I used locktight on the dovetail mount. Nothing should be moving, but if its moving, damned if I can understand how. What really bothers me is being able to put 5 shots into 1.5" at 100 m previously, but always experiencing a wandering zero. Its like the potential is there, but I can't tap into it.

"...figuring out what I'm doing wrong..." It isn't you. Doubt it's the mount either. It's the scope. Contact Burris. Kind of surprised Burris is having their scopes made in the PI though.
Had a Tasco, long ago, that wouldn't hold zero on my glass bedded, Win70A stocked, Cooey M71 .243. Put a bore sighter on and watched the reticle bounce back and forth when I opened and closed the bolt. The rifle has a Bushnell Scopechief on it now.

There are an awfull lot of people that scope their M14s's with the Bushnell Elite 3200 10X Mildot scope and have had pretty well near zero problems with them (providing they use a decent mount). Mine has been great and hasn't caused the wandering zero you described for about 1000 rounds so far. BTW, I'm using an ARMS18 mount.
