w762nato, what does it say on your PAL? Anything about 12(3)? 12(3) is the designation for a semi-auto rifle that was converted from full auto or select fire. If your rifle was registered as of 1 December, 1998 and it says 12(3) on your PAL, you should be ok. No more hunting trips for your rifle though.
