So here we were doing an M14 Clinic at TSE (Thanks TSEJr, TSEJustin, and TSE Andrea, great meeting ya) and Justin reminds me that he has a pile of M14Medic Op rod spring guides in stock  in the store right now (Sunday 22 July) at $ 37 or something like that.

Much of this product made by NEA, and Marstar, Rauch Tactical, Tartan Tactical (just to name a few) is awfully hard to come by at many of the sponsor's businesses above, and once in a while I find them in stock , so you guyz should jump on these units. I'm not getting paid or any free product, I'm doing this because I get swamped with questions on the product's location and availability. Have at 'er!

Oh yeah, some are cylindrical and the others are cylindrical/fluted (extra cool factor) ;)

I'm just trying to be helpful to the M14 Newbs as someone was once helpful to me 27 years ago! ;)

Cheers,
Barney

They're in the display case next to the P-Mags etc. They had quite a few of them over the weekend so grab one if you need one!

Difference between fluted and non-fluted? Priced the same, minus 1 oz in weight and plus 60 oz of cool for the fluted apparently ;)

Yep! Picked one up myself a week ago...thought it were a good price, felt both and figured the fluted one actually did feel lighter so I got that one.

But then I handled one of the "shorty's" they had there...and suddenly I'm thinking of a second M-14! Might have to pick up a second fluted spring guide...

Yup, nitro carberized tool steel, definately superior to the stainless versions being peddled elsewhere. While no longer associated with this product or it's maker, it's high on my list of recommended upgrades. Don't be fooled by stainless versions, they are softer and succeptable to galling from spring abrasion. Stainless overall is a poor choice for a part such as this. Tool steel on the other hand, is perfect and WILL last for a long long time ;)

I picked one up this weekend! Too bad they don't have any upgraded springs, or really any M14 parts for that matter. I was surprised to see the guide rod so I snapped one up.

So I realize this thread is a couple months old, but instead of starting a new one (and yes, I did search - it brought me here) I figured I'd just ask away here.

How do I instal the spring guide? Can anyone link me to a detailed tutorial?

Thanks

If you go to M14.ca and scroll down there is alot of info about anything to do with the M14. If you need a video there are hundreds on youtube. Just do a google search under videos.

They HAD a bunch of parts but the last clinic wiped them out. Prior to the next clinic we should put in a want list of stuff for them to bring in.

You can thank TSEJustin for that 'stocking up' in preparation for the July (Yes, I delivered THREE of them) 2012 clinics at TSE. He was my pointman or contact at TSE and he made sure they ordered a whole whack of M14 swag.

Now about installing that op rod spring guide, YouTube is your friend and SEARCH for Funker Tactical and you will see ME :D doing what's called M14 University. Not sure why the great film producers called this episode by that title. Go and have a look!

I got yer backs!

Barney, thanks a lot! Great video! I enjoyed how you guys cut back and forth to the US introductory video of the M14. Well done!

Oh and it definitely helped me switch that sucker out! :p

Thanks again.

I just realized that Farmboy at OneShotTactical has the S&J unit for sale there, too. BBB or Badboybeeson is a great guy to deal with and he always tries to get innovative product out to us! Go and have a look! Another one of the board sponsors helping with our M14 addiction!

Cheers,
Barney
