m14s bolt roller fell off

When I stripped my m14s down to clean it, the bolt roller fell off when I removed the op-rod. I was able to snap it back on the bolt with minimal effort, but found that I could also remove it again with my fingers if I pulled hard enough. Is this normal? The bolt has fired less then 2000 rounds.

The roller is held in place with a C shaped spring clip. Without it and the tool to compress it to put the roller on....

And something "everyone" with an M14/M1A/LRB or what have you, should check is that the oprod isn't resting on the roller at full lock up. This has been a problem on rifles sent to me with similar roller spitting issues.
I'm dealing with one right now for a fella from the island. H&R USGI bolt to boot.
Brownells sells M1A bolt roller and bolt roller clips... Cheap enough to order spares ;)
