M14s Field Gauge

I checked my M14s, the Field gauge (Forester, FIELD, 1.6380")
closed with no play room. I don't have any feeler gauges to check
if there is any more headspace, but the bolt seems to be locked tight.

Do you guys think it is safe to shoot .308 Win?

I have shot about 500 rounds through this rifle without checking
the headspace.

Now I checked and I'm not sure if it is safe to shoot .308 Win.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think that you can only check the head spacing on a M1a with the extractor out of the bolt...

The bolt has to be disassembled.
