M14s in 7.62x39 coming to Canada?

For all the R&D and testing to make this option.. plus the changes in all the working parts to make them fit a new rim, short tapered case, etc....

If they would just put in the same energy and come out with a 6.5 Creedmoor version, think of them possibilities :)

NR semi with the capacity to reach out to 1000+yds... uumm, anyone else interested?

for all those that are saying , just buy a mini 30 etc etc .. for me , i would want the m305 in x39 , because it still looks like a m305 and it will be shedloads cheaper to shoot . the mini 30 looks lame (imho) i have had the x51 m305 , ... would def look at a x39 version so long as it retained the look i like .
cheers

I dunno... a 7.62x54r M305 is better.

Why not just buy a Mini-30? It's a mini-m14 and it fires 7.62x39

From what I've heard Mini 14 may have issues with surplus x39. I don't have first hand experience, but I have heard this from a few users.

If the M14 in x39 can digest cheaper surplus ammo than it will be a winner....I'd be in for one.
Looking forward to this, and the price sounds attractive.

X2

I always want one in 260 and 6.5 CM will be as good if not better.

To me it makes no sense. I wouldn't buy a Mini-30 anyways as you can allready get a SKS/Vz58 that does the same thing perfectly.

But if you just into ascetics of the idea, knock your socks off. Just my opinion.

Maybe in newer 6mm Creedmoor.

how about one in 30-06, im sure theyre going to come out at an even higher price point so at that point why wouldnt you just get a mini 30 ??. they need to start importing more of their 18" SOCOMS

They already had that, it was the Garand.
The M1 was a great rifle for its time but it had flaws. The M14 fixed all the worst aspects of the M1 rifle. It's an M1 with smaller cartridge thus shorter action without losing any actual power or effective distance, a detachable magazine vice the wonky en bloc system. If you ever stripped an M1 Garand down anywhere but a gun bench under a bright light with a magnifying glass you would see how much they simplified the engineering of the rifle with the M14. Much less parts, easier to strip, easier to reassemble, more robust gas system etc etc
While I respect the M1 for it's role in its time and place, the M14 is a much better design and rifle all around with a more logical cartridge. It was born too late though and the SCHV concept ended it before it could develop with full military use over years.
Just my opinion on this but an M305 in 7.62x39mm really would just be a really big, really heavy mini 30. Cost would probably be up around $700-800 at lowest IF they ever actually come in. Meh...

AK mags would be wonderful, and easiest due to the very similar mag release between the AK and M14. If they can run, I want one. But I have a feeling they will be worse than the worst M14's we already got.

Meh, an M-305 in anything other than .308 is wasted effort IMHO. 6.5 creedmore, 260 rem? Sounds good on paper, but that is akin to t!ts & lipstick on a pig; it's a Norinco after all. .308 is accurate enough - Who's dumped thousands into the M-14 platform to get them to shoot?

I'm as big a fan of 'rinco stuff as anyone, but they should do what they do best - rip off the designs of iconic legacy firearms:d
In 30-06? - how about a semi-auto Garand? or a Browning Automatic Rifle?

7.62x39? - why not produce a new semi-auto design that uses the VZ-58 or AK design, but is dimensionally unique from other designs out there?

An M-14 in 7.62x39 sounds somewhat interesting but would have to be well executed, and that's not really a Norinco strongpoint.

I'd be all over a downsized version however, forget the Mini-14/30, which are basically a scaled up M-1 Carbine, but something more akin to a M-14erized version of the .276 Pedersen Garand but in modern intermediate calibers.

The idea crossed my mind but if I was to buy a 6.5 creedmore it would be in an accurate plateform to start with not a battlerifle.

Another semi auto in 7.62x39 that is not optics ready and not particularly super easy to clean.... why?

Maybe a low cost re-chambered bolt action (mosin/enfield/mauser) in 7.62x39 would be a nice option.

Meh. Just thinking, in general the M305 is harder to clean than the SKS so it will not be corrosive friendly. Unless you throw it in the dishwasher. Seems a lot more to get a lot less over an SKS. They should have just done a new manufacturer run of the SKS.

For the price point theyll be at i might just pick up one of those new fnagled chasis built sks's.
Im more excited that, from all indications, Norinco is manufacturing M14 parts again

Maybe these will come with canted front sights too!!!

Don't worry...they will have a "Rock Solid" warranty, just like this one:

(and yes, Sarcasm! What warranty?)

I'd rather just see a new production M1 Carbine
