So after about the 5th scope mount for my M14s/norinco and my m1a, mounting with a great deal of care buying laser bore sighters ete.etc.installing various scopes and finding that I run out of adjustment either in windage or height with the scope adjustments.I am getting kind of ticked off.we/I know the m14 type are hard too mount scopes on but this is getting to be a costly pain in the butt.I have tried Burris zee rings(best so far)and a number of others that allow some adjustment but none has enough,Now maybe I am unlucky in the purchase of the 2 norincos and the one M1a,maybe I got the 3 rifles that are totally out of wack but I found that hard to believe.maybe I got the wrong mounts.Arms 18,smith,2 bassetts.and an other which name escapes me at this time. The best one was the pic.rail basset I can actually get it close enough that I only use up 1/2 the windage adjustment.I think it is time some one came up with a mount with an adjustable rail or rings with way more adjustment.and before some one says its the cheap scopes,I have a sightron, a viper pst, and a falcon so mddle of the scale scopes.anyone else having this problem or is it just me?thats my rant for the year

All I can say is That I have a metal Sadlak on my M1A and didn't have any issues. Any friends that have a M14 that they can try one of your mount on?

Sounds like wce323078 you are not properly mounting it. Some times the stripper clip guide can cause you greif or some times it's the side whole. As if you are running out of windage it means that your rail is not properly centered over the rifle. One of my Norinco's I needed to use a washer as a shim to address this issue.

First thing I do with the arms 18 is remove and toss the side bolt retaining clip. Haven't met one yet that wouldn't zero. I mount a crap load of arms 18 mounts for folks ;)

Really? Why's that? I just mounted my 18 and everything fit perfectly and seems to be working well so far. Just curious.

Leatherwood

Arm#18 insalled on 1 M14 and a Basset on the other another M14 with no problems at all with the scope. The Arms has a small pad at the front you can adjust for elevation if needed and neither needed windage adjustments.

Possibly not going onto the striper clip guide all the way?

Maybe someone has a suggestion to help all the mounts I have tried I have not enough windage in the scopes and I know the mount is not aligning with the bore.I have mounted dozens of scopes on bolt actions and a couple of Browning BARS always on the paper very little adjustment to sight in.I followed the installation instructions to the letter on each of the mounts but I am always off to the left on all 3 rifles. With the Bassett was able to make up the difference with the burris zee rings but not with the rest.Satain where did you place the washer?I have been thinking of placing shim stock at the rear of the mount before tighting the side bolt.I find it hard to believe I have 3 rifles that are that far out whats the chances off that?

Sell your other mounts and go with the leatherwood if that is not an option, If it was me at this point I would ship it to the M14 doc have him take a look. W W W.opticsplanet.net/leatherwood-m14-m1a-all-steel-mount-w-windage-adj.html
