"M14s" & "M305" difference?

Marstar calls them M305 as that is the current Norinco model name/number.....but the CFC sends out paper work calling them
M14s ......that is what I prefer to call them.

GG&FB

Thanks, just wanted to be sure. Norinco's website lists them both which threw me off (even though all the specs were the same - why two entries?)

Excuse my ignorance (I'm new to this rifle), but why is it that the M1A/M305/M14S isn't prohib?

If you're serious I apologize, but you are kidding, no? I knew you were ####ting! :D

Because it doesn't look as "evil" as some military rifles and at the time of the bans, it did not fit into the points classification system as well as rifles like the FN-FAL.

The M14 is only prohib because it is select fire. It's not prohib by name (and all variants) which essentially makes even semi auto only versions prohib as well like the AK, G3, FAL, etc

Actually, depending on when it was made there IS a difference.

Now, from what little I know/have seen I can say this.

I own 2 norinco M14's, they are marked M14, not M305 or M14S. They are both identical to each other, their lettering is stencilled on by machine etc.

I have seen "only" 1 M305. It was purchased probably 20 years or so ago. It is vastly inferior in workmanship/appearance than the norc M14. The lettering is hand etched onto the side of the reciever. And there is no raised portion on the side of the reciever for the scope mount screw, the entire left side of the reciever has a slight cant to it. And those that complain about the norc stocks these days dont know how good you have it compared to the "old" norc stocks.

"...why is it that the M1A/M305/M14S isn't prohib?..." No pistol grip and it's not black. It wasn't scary looking enough for the Socialist F**ks.

The M14 is US Rifle M14 And was made FA they were mod to CA and they are
now PROHIBITED. The Norinco Rifle is non-restricted M14s M1a(SA) M305 etc etc as per FRT Firearm Reference Table
Cheers
