A little off topic but that pic looks like Emille's range north of the deer. I love that range.

I would second buying from Bashaw sports if you go with the 858. Pud's a great guy to deal with and he'll back up what he sells.

Still a bit off topic
So ill say M305 and CZ 858 , are cool
Yes it is Emils ,Its a nice little range , and handy . although i guess when Emil passes on im sure it will close . Im hoping to be able to use the 300yd range at penhold on the old airbase , but you have to take a range officer course first .and belong to Red deer Fish and wildlife ?
The only down side to Emils right now is ,its due south and you get the low winter sun just over the target area . Otherwise yoiu meet some nice people there .

depends what you want the rifle for i guess....but if you want a gun you can really customize or be a great shooter you will have to choose the m14. if you are going to do zero mods both guns will be really good for you but i think the cz/vz will probably look better, if looks are important. (the m14 requires a stock change in my opinion).

Never shot penhold but If you don't mind the drive Rocky has a real nice range.

The only problem I've ever had a emil;es is that it never seems to be calm there. Always windy.

I took my 858 out for the first time today and brought a buddy who owns the m14.He liked it so much he is puting his up for sale and buying a 858.

If you do not have an M14s in your collection then you should pick one up as soon as you get the chance. As soon as supplies run out, the price for a new M14 will tripple for sure. I wouldn't pass up a deal like this! A $1500 gun for $399!!! That is too crazy to pass up!

Nice toy .
I would love to put a scope on my baby , but am somewhat reluctant to be drilling holes in it . how does the side mount work for you

You cant really go wrong with either.

The 7.62 Soviet may be cheaper but the 7.62 Nato (nearly identical to 308 Winchester) is readily available at any hardware store.

Both are great for hunting cariboo.

I may sell them both as I am pricing out an IPSC race rig. Lots of dough lol.

The side mount works awesome, as it is intended. :)

hey hori I've owned one of the norinco m1a's and it's been sold. some people are happy with their's I myself was not .I found you had to put to much money into the rifle to make it right and the dam barrel was not indexed right so it shot lousy and I had to fix that before I sold it. a friend of mine has a cz858 and he love's it and I tried it at or range and was quite impressed with the cz . it was the one with the longer barrel .hope i spelled that right it's late.buy the cz you won't go wrong it's still in use in the check republic.
