I finally had a chance to sight in my M14S :) I mounted a cheapy cheap Tasco 6x9 scope and the results are mixed. While accuracy at 100yards is OK, I found myself using the 9x almost all of the time.

I picked up a set of Smiths scope rings with the 1" inserts, when used with the (ARMS 18 style) TSA scope mount it is a rock solid platform. Im concerned that the scope wont hold a zero in light of the recoil of the 308. I opted to go Made in China optics to match the Made in China gun. Can someone recomend a suitable 10x scope that isnt as expensive as the rifle?

Overall the set up is acceptable..not a single stoppage in over 100 rounds. Maybe a trigger job next. I am still pleasantly surprised by the overall accuracy of this rifle ... but I still miss the range time with my L1A1 :(

I use a Bushnell Elite 3200 10X40 Mildot. I've fired about 500 rounds so far with it and it holds zero beautifully. This scope is rock solid and an absolute bargain (you should be able to snag one for about $240.00)

+1.

I had one for a while and it is the best but out there as far as inexpensive, quality scopes go.

SKBY.

I'm an IOR man myself.... plus I can't go hunting with a straight 10 scope.
I found 4x to be plentiful, and a 6x would do in almost any shooting scenario that would involve an M14.
For low light shots an 8x56... or go NV.

For target use though, the 3200 is more than adequate.
Tasco is very good too.
Imagine you forgot your mallet and can't drive those tent picks..........

I use a bushnell elite 4200 2.5x10! Works excellent, lots of adjustment for different hunting situation's and hold's it zero great! I also only use a thrid gen springfeild mount ,not my first choice but was all that was aval. at time!!
still holds it zero!

i just got the bushnell 10x also....i thought it was a good bargin for sure. if you want it for 240$ you have to go to wholesale sports, its a bit more elsewhere i find.

i use bushnell elite 3200 3-9 x 40 for hunting and another scope i can't remember the name.... but it is a 6-18x50 for the range. both scopes perform without any complaint.

However with these scopes, I wouldn't cheap out on the mount & rings..

Nope, mines in ARMS. Mounts cost more then the rifle:rolleyes: . I don't think any scope would do well on a M14S in cheap mounts, too much reverse shock.

You can always pay 4 or 5 times as much for a springfield if you'd prefer the rifle to cost more than the mounts...

What kind of mount are you using?

Im looking forward to mounting a Super Sniper 16x on this rifle.

Anyone have any experience with these?

I've got one mounted on my Remington 700VS. It's a great scope as well. I've used it for years to shoot the ORA precision matches. It's as good as the Bushnell 3200 10X mildot plus you get an adjustable objective :)

Bushnell 3200 10x mill dot. I have one on top of my 300WSM and damn it works good!!!! Holds ZERO on the Mag round!!!

only prob is that at 400+ yards things are really blurry!!!!!

Fixed paralax at 100ish
