you will never get a answer about 308 and 7.62. some will say yes, some will say no. you can shoot both safely. the differance is very small. i heard of people that aquired cans of nato 7.62 (no names no pack drill) and have used it for years in a 308 with no problem. this is another american thing. "oh my god my bolt is to soft, it will blow in your face".lol. the differance is the shoulder on the 7.62 is a bit longer micrometer wise longer, and micrometer wise thicker at the shoulder. as long as you are not useing som high bred ammo anything over 165 grains the rifle should take it. btw it is only designed for 147 grains.
