Hate to do this but I need help. I would very much like to find a M16 pencil barrel with a fixed front sight base but I'm having a very hard time finding one. There's only a couple stipulations I have, since it's going on an SLR set and won't be period correct for a lot of reasons, and they are:
(obviously M16 profile with FSB)
chrome lined
anywhere from 1-7~1-12 twist
I would prefer that it has an F marked front sight base and M4 barrel extension but neither of those are necessary.
I've found a lot of barrels with some of those features but not all. Kind of a unicorn in this day and age but I'm wondering if anyone knows where to find one or if there's a dealer that has one/can get one. I know there's some companies that can get one but I want to see if there's anything in Canada before I settle in for a long wait.....I have everything, A1 stock, triangular handguards, 3 prong hider....just need a barrel.

Thanks for any help someone as OCD as me could possibly provide.

I had the same problem while looking for one last year for my Crapabee SLR. To make it more complicated you need a 'F' marked FSB with a 0.625" gas block diameter. There is no factory option for what you want. I looked EVERYWHERE. But you can build one.

I ordered a M16a1 profile barrel from Green Mountain 20", chrome lined, 1in12 twist. I had Bit of Pieces (in Delta BC) order it for me, they are Green Mountain distributor. Your options for a correct FSB is Bravo Company Manufacturing (order from Brownells or I had RDSC order it for me) or find a no longer produced DPMS 0.625" 'F' marked front sight base. I had bits of Pieces install the FSB for me on the barrel. Don't forget to order taper pins & the correct 0.626" triangle handguard cap.

If close enough is good enough. Buy this from Nordic Marksman

I put mine together with a 70's manufactured Colt M16a1 parts kit I bought a few years ago. Don't forget to find a correct A1 style rear detachable carry handle. There are one two companies who made them, one no longer does.

Here is a bad cell phone pic of mine in all it's glory. I've only sighted it in at indoor 50m range, 1.0" groups seem to be easy if I do my part.

Thanks for the advice so far but neither the Nordic Marksmen or True North Arms barrels are chrome lined. And I'm definitely not paying $400 for a non chromed barrel, rare or not. I'd rather buy a complete A1 upper and sell the SLR set.

How did you get it drilled and pinned? Who in Canada does that and how much did it cost? And the big question
..was it indexed correctly??

Does no one read anymore? I answered who did it in my original post, Bits of Pieces. I don't remember the exact cost, it was around $100 to get the FSB drilled. Send some emails and find out for yourself about pricing / wait times. Don't be cheap, if you want what you want (ma6a1 profile, chromlined, F marked FSB) you might have to pay to get it. And yes the two times I have had FSB's drilled they have been indexed correctly. It is kinda hard to screw it up if you have the correct jig. I'd do it myself if I had a milling machine since it is a easy straight forward operation.

Places that can drill, taper ream and pin a FSB for you are as follows:
Bits of Pieces (BC)
The gunsmith at the Calgary Shooting Centre ($125/hr)
Casey at Tactical Ordnance (Ontario)
Ian at Herron Arms
I'm sure there are lots of other
