M17 scope base?

Does anyone know where I can get one? I picked up an M17 for a friend for Christmas, but the base it once had is gone. all that remains are 3 holes.

M17? As in sported M1917?
Its going to depend on who did it, and how the receiver was contoured.
If it is a BSA conversion, Remington 700 bases might work.

yes, sporterized M1917. I can tell it once had a one piece base on it, just wish I knew what the base was...

Three holes would suggest a bridge mount.
As a guess, I would suspect a M700 mount might be the one, if the rear bridge has been contoured like a 700.
Is there a gunshop/gunsmith close by, where you could try some bases against the receiver?

closest one is Prophet River... will have to take a little road trip I guess...
