I've never found the model 1911 grip comfortable. I think it has something to do with the harsh transition between the front of the grip (steel) and the grip panels (wood or plastic). I find the radius changes in the grip jarring and uncomfortable.

Do the slip on grips like the ones from Pachmayr and Hogue create a smoother transition? Or would it be better to get the slimmest panels I can find?

Thanks for the help.

I don't mind traditional 1911 grips but a couple of my 1911's have Pachmayr wrap around grips on them which I also like.

Buy a different auto!

JMB’s 1911 design revolutionised & outclassed every semi-auto pistol design in its time. Am I wrong?
Is there a semi-auto pistol currently made today designed 108 years ago still being made today?

Georg Luger’s P08? Mauser’s 1896 Broomhandle 7.63 auto? Walther’s PPK/S? Okay, you got me there, but the PPK came out 18 years later.....

That pierce insert looks like a really good solution, I might give it’s try.

I could buy a different handgun, but I’ve already been pretty spendy this year. Maybe next year I’ll look into a Sig or a CZ.
