M1917 Rifle from Forge to Finish

Best WWI rifle ever produced by any nation. They already had the P14 in production so everything was sorted out when they started the M1917.

Rifle slushing = Cosmo

Great video, they really cranked them out.

I had wondered that and assumed preservative. I would have thought a spray of oil if they were headed right out to troops instead of being put in storage? Although, I guess we don't know when this batch was produced

In his book, “The US Enfield” , author Ian Skennerton mentions how difficult it was for EddyStone , Remington and Winchester, the manufacturers of the Model 1917 rifles to find and retain the skilled workers needed to manufacture the Model 1917, with military production booming in the US after the US entered WW1 , workers would up and leave if offered a better paying job

For a moment I thought it was the Radetzky March playing in the not so background :). Oh well, the 1st Queen's Dragoon Guards of the U.K. adopted it eventually as its regimental quick march.
Thanks for the link.
