I have an Inland made M1A1 Carbine, but it doesn't have the folding stock assembly. Does anyone know where in Canada I can buy one? Or if there's an importer in Canada willing to source it out of the US?

The US State Dept. has the M1 Carbine listed as an "assault rifle" and restricts any export of parts outside of the USA unless you have an import license from them.

I'd prefer surplus parts, but at this stage, I'd consider repros or anything.

TIA.

Holy crap look at that...he's got a repro. I bought one from Marstar a long time ago, in hind sight shoulda bought two.

Thanks Jody v, I sent Gunsdora a msg.

Hope he has what you are looking for. I think he was asking around $400 bucks for it. I thought I saw it advertised on Firearmscanada.com as well.

Thanks for the help, I guess I missed his ad down the list in the EE section.

Hopefully he still has it. I'll make due with the repro for now but I'll keep looking for surplus stuff. Sarco in NJ has some, but with the laws and stuff, it will probably be a while.

Thanks again.

My understanding that shipping anything to do with am M1 carbine across the border, is illegal. I am looking for the correct stock for a Saginaw that I have and was informed by what seemed to be knowledgable people on the subject, that bringing one from the states was not the thing to do. I see stocks and stuff on ebay from time to time but do not usually bid on anything if it is not from Canada. I believe I even saw some folding stocks on there over the last few years as well.

If you really need one, I would PM Gunsdora and tell him you are looking for one. Like I said earlier he posted one the Firearmscanada.com website very recently, so maybe he still has it. Based on his past posting he seems to have an endless supply of M1 carbines and parts.

Actually it is still there in the EE. Look under Exchange of Parts and Bits. Posted July 26.

you are correct ANY part for the M1 carbine requires an export permit and and enduser cert

for years i brought parts from the us for my m1 carbines (springs and small parts)

a while back my US licensed expoter informed me thatthe m1 carbine was on the no export list and his applications had all been turned down so I have been unable to get parts since

Why would we want to ship carbine parts to the states if we can't get them back. Most would prefer if you have parts to sell, sell them here:)

Economics. A barrel is worth 3-5 times what one is worth here, depending on the maker. I know for a fact a bunch of CGN'ers made some good coin when parts kits came into Canada via Trade Ex a few years ago.
