M1g help!!

I took my breda m1g out to the range today and after shooting through the first clip the built broke off the gun! My Extractor on the Bolt snapped right into two parts. Now I am wondering if i need to buy a hole new Bolt or can i get away with buying a extractor and than bringing it to a gunsmith to get fixed?

Yes, so are several of the trigger group components. Hardness specs are much better/consistent on the US GI extractors than on the Chinese Norinco ones.

"...breda m1g..." That the same as a Breda made M1 Rifle? AKA M1 Garand? Marstar wants $32 for an M1 Rifle extractor.

If you have the proper M-1 Garand cleaning kit, the HANDLE of the cleaning-rod is a Combination Tool! You screw the PATCH TIP into the HANDLE, pull the bolt partway back and insert the FRONT of the tool (the end WITHOUT the little tittie sticking out) into the chamber, then ease the bolt forward until it rests against the tool. The "little tittie" of the tool goes under the wrecked extractor and a short twist UPWARD will remove the broken Extractor. With the tool still in the REMOVE position, you now insert the new Extractor, push downward on it and ease it into position as you lower the handle of the tool. You should feel it snap into position, just slightly. Now you pull the bolt back and let it lock, remove the tool, load the rifle and go play. Takes 2 minutes but only IF you have the tool. Otherwise, take it to a gunsmith: there are a lot of small parts in there that can get lost.... and the extractor holds them ALL in postion!

I would think the M-14 tool should do the job. Boltface dimensions are the same for the '06 and the .308, procedure is the same. Tool, logically, should do the job. On the Garand tool, the end that you put into the chamber is cut as a screwdriver; it fits the gas plug perfectly. Gas plugs MUST be tight.

f your rifle doesn't shoot as well as you would like, grab a cigarette 25-pack out of the garbage and tear off the cardboard 'wings' at the sides. You then remove the trigger mech, put these one on each side of the magazine and reattach the trigger mech. These act as shims, keep everything TIGHT. Garands must be tight in order to shoot well.
