m203 launcher/ 37mm flare launcher where?

Yes you can own these, the M203 will set you back about 3k and you can only find them in private hands.

I beg to differ -- the question is not building one -- its building one for less than 10k...
Oh I didn't mean it couldn't be built. Hell, those guys had her cased.

I meant just that, you won't just sit down one weekend with the prints and think you can flange one up for cheapo in your garage.

Stumbling block seemed to be getting a 40mm barrel.

The receiver and associated bits are "merely" a machining problem...getting rifled 40mm tubing for the barrel is a MAJOR stumbling block, and the blanks cannot be exported from the US for civilian use. I think that was the nail that did the project in.

Makes me wonder how those Taliban gunsmiths can manufacture all sorts of weapons using basic tools in their back alley gun shops.

True, but would you pay $3000 for a hand made M203?

Of course not, but i think he's trying to say people wouldn't have to pay $3000 for a hand made M203. :D

Personally I leave the blowing up stuff to the pros.

The nail in the coffin was the 40MM rifled barrel. And I don't think that the taliban craftmen are capable of CONSISTANTLY turning out a rifled 40MM thin wall barrel in 7075 Aluminum.

Smoothbore BBL's are easy. But there is not real point if you cannot hit what you aim at. We could do it like that, but who would want to pay 3-4 K for an inaccurate launcher?

If someone wanted to put 50% down, and we had 15 people, yah no prob we can do it....but again, prove there is interest by putting the money in our hands, then wait 6-8 months for the 40MM smoothbore.
