These just caught my attention a few days ago. I never noticed the variant before.
Are they still available at retail stores?
If you have one, what do you think, are they really made better than a standard unissued french tickler?

They have French Tickler model SKS, but if theres an M21, it would be very much luck of the draw

Or $800 or so on g unpost lol

I bought an 'Un-issued' FT last year from Tenda and there was NO mention of it being an 'M21' and it wasn't! I didn't expect it and unless you 'speak with' a vendor I wouldn't expect it since there is too much 'mis-information' out there. Some sites I've seen use both descriptors interchangeably when they Are Not.
My FT was in Cosmo but not wrapped in plastic as well. I've been told that 'some' at Cabelas/BP have had Cosmo on them but 'partly cleaned' (pity the dude in the back room  ). When I got mine cleaned, the bore was like a shiny mirror - now it's not. šŸ˜‰
PS - there's prob 'more than you want to know' here - https://chinesesks.weebly.com/

Boris and Pax are regular founts of info on the SKS on the 'boards.

It would be nice to see a review from a cgn member...

Of an M21?

I've thought of it but I don't want to spend $800 on an SKS if I don't happen to luck out and see one in store. Probably cry about it in a year or two when they're $1600 lol

There's nothing notably more special about them. Some boards indicated a threaded muzzle but I haven't seen that on any of the ones up here so far. I'm sure it's worth more to someone but I'm watching them sit on GP and other retailers websites without moving, so I think they don't really command any more value than a regular french tickler.

Anyone buying those for "Investments" is dreaming. The M21s 'mostly occurred' in the 23, 24 and 25 'million series and over 300K of 'those' were likely made, with probably more. As I posted, lots of info on these here - https://chinesesks.weebly.com/late-m21.html

I dunno man, 300,000 rifles is a drop in the SKS ocean. Not saying they'll be going for a few times the price of a regular Chinese SKS, but some people really do like variants and comparatively rare markings.

I never heard of this m21 version, what is different about it?

Nothing different, it seems to be a marking they put on the ones destined for export.

I got me a SKS ' frenchie '. and a jungle stock version too. Bolth are numbers matching and seem to be un issued. They cleaned up nice and shoot good.Getting a bit pricy but they are nice compared to the bbq painted ones a few years ago.

Check out this video, M21 starts at 6:41:

These are more rare than the regular FTs. Whether that makes them worth more money than a FT is up to each person individually, but they are not different guns with different performances.

I think the fit and finish is better than the regular FT, but it does not impact the shooting or function. I think people would want to collect it due to it being marked M21 and thus more rare, rather than better fit and finish anyways.

I have one bought for $700 basically a FT with a M21 stamp on left side of receiver not sure if quality better than the FT as I dont own a tickler only handled for a few min and looked it over as seller had both the M21 variant which I didn't know anything about it at the time ... it was $75 bucks more so I bought that one (M21) only because condition was immaculate and the tickler had some dings and a stock repair or id probably have bought the FT if wasn't so ocd about condition and a cheap son of a gun :) Sadly had to leave my Ruski and Chicom collection with my brother to hold after moving to Alaska, literally even old surplus is banned from import .
