Hi, was wondering if anyone out there (Canadian) has an US M24 shooting system? I've been looking on the few websites I know of that sell Milspec or Milsurp but haven't seen any up for sale. I've inquired a couple of times and people say they just don't see them for some reason. We can import lots of different US Milspec rifles so why aren't we seeing more M24 rifles?

If you have one I'd be interested in hearing about how you got it.

You can import an M24 through any remington dealer, or at least you could last I checked, but the M24 package is very expensive. It was a couple of years back, but when I checked, it was about 6K.

On their website they list the package with case, parts, cleaning kits, etc. around $6k but the rifle on its own is only $4kish. I've asked a couple Rem dealers and none were very interested in checking into it for me. Probably just the Canadian retail thing. Clay at Prophet River is the only one that said he'd actively look; that guy gets more of my money than the bank!

Clay's gotten a bunch of my $$ too..lol...great guy.
You can build an awesome clone that would be an absolute tac driver for less money.
Check out ATRS...Rick has done lots..

Part of my interested in the M24 platform has to do with collector sentiment. Having a true military platform rifle to take out for comps. and occasional hunting would really tickle my pickle. Buying a clone would feel like buying a Norinco M14 clone. Maybe looks the same and may even perform similar but it's just not real. You know what I mean?

I hear ya. Sounds like you know the price, and what you want. Go for it. If you do your homework, there are even some XM2010s available stateside as well, depending on what you want.

I suspect the other vendors are just brushing you off from years of hearing from guys like me who wanted one, but only at the couple grand price point, not at the 4-6 price point.

You could always speak with the guys at GAP... They have a M24 build listed. I don't think you'd get much closer to authentic than that.

They had a "sell off" of old M24's but I think it was to serving members of the US only, maybe you fall into that catagory? Who knows... I'm sure there are various websites that would have the complete "legit" specs that you could forward to one of the great gunsmiths here. Spec'd rifles are always funny to read about, every unit, individual or rifle has its own quirks, then a huge debate ensues about who was allowed to install what, etc.

If a PGW would fit your collection prerequisite, they are awesome rifles. Once you get behind one of them it will be tough to shoot anything else. Ross and crew are definitely doing something right with their builds.
Lots of CGNr's with them and depending where you are you might find somebody to show you one.
I did and I'm hooked...selling off some stuff to fund one as we speak.

Here's the link to the PGW site:

PGWDTI Coyote

The Coyote is essentially our equivalent to the M24, and it's built in Canada. Both Ross and Steve are active on this site and would definitely be good people to talk to. Based on the published price it'll work with your budget as well.

Yea the PGW Coyote immediately came to mind as well.

Our Snipers aren't always issued the M24 equivalent here. Many units are issues systems like the PGW Timberwolf, Coyote etc.

He was asking about an issued platform though. Was the Coyote ever standard issue anywhere? He could get a Timberwolf, but that is a different system altogether.

The Timberwolf is considerably more than a Coyote and both are outstanding rifles I'm sure. The M24 alone (new not used) would line up with the Coyote in terms of price but a few less accessories (no rail, brake, etc.) I like the Hogue stock better on the M24 and the fact that it's a 700 action means way more expandability.

Honestly I'd have to check one out to see if I could make the change.

A very experienced shooter I know just bought a Coyote, he's used to higher end stuff than I am and he's still giggling like a kid 3 weeks after it's arrival. I must say, in the (nearly) full deployment kit (no can) with NF glass it's an amazingly impressive piece of kit. On my scale of 1 to 10 it ranks around a 14 - everything about it is well thought out and well executed.

I was thinking the same thing. As the OP is looking for an authentic (as issued) piece of hardware, the C-14 Timberwolf is the only one I know of in current issue from PGW.
Maybe the fellas from PGW can chime in to enlighten us.

I don't recall hearing that it was actually issued either, but the OP did mention competing with it and the Timberwolf would likely limit those options. The issue that I'd have with a factory M24 are that it's really just the hardware until it's actually been worked on by the armourers that service the real deal rifles so it may not actually be representative of how the issued ones perform.
