M24

The Timberwolf is considerably more than a Coyote and both are outstanding rifles I'm sure. The M24 alone (new not used) would line up with the Coyote in terms of price but a few less accessories (no rail, brake, etc.) I like the Hogue stock better on the M24 and the fact that it's a 700 action means way more expandability.

Honestly I'd have to check one out to see if I could make the change.

The M24 is a HS Precision PST-011 stock, not Hogue.

I think the receiver of the coyote is a Rem 700 clone but I could be wrong on that one. The safety is different but the rest could be the same.

Just something to think about. I totally understand wanting to own a M24. There are better systems for the money but when you want something sometimes the rest just wont do. Good luck with your search.

A Coyote is not a clone of a 700...not even remotely close.

The Coyote is an issued military system....

I was thinking the same thing. As the OP is looking for an authentic (as issued) piece of hardware, the C-14 Timberwolf is the only one I know of in current issue from PGW.
Maybe the fellas from PGW can chime in to enlighten us.

It is not a custom action it is an action produced on a production basis in our facility.

Now that you're here, I can direct my question to the right person.

Why did you guys choose to use CM steel for the bolt and barrel, rather than SS? Krieger is among the best, but I personally can't think of a single reason for a CM barrel, other than cost, which is why I'm asking.

Thanks

Cost difference between the 4140 and 416 for the bls is negligible in the qty levels we purchase. We are starting to use more and more stainless these days however. The original specification for 4140 barrels was specified by the CF.

Your rifles are very appealing I have to say. Now that I am aware of them making the decision on an M24 isn't necessarily so easy. It's unfortunate your shop is in central Canada or I'd stop by and learn more about them. I'm in Alberta so it's not practical. I have had limited experience with the M24 and that's one of the reasons I'm semi-firm in my desire for one. Perhaps when I've saved the cash I will make a road trip out to Manitoba so I can make an educated decision on your rifles too.

I'm willing to bet there's more than a few pieces of PGW's art in Alberta that someone local may let you fondle.

Do they come in DM?

lol

EDIT: Ok apparently the A2 model has a 5 or 10 round detach

Haha read this from Wikipedia:

"XM24A1

An experimental variant re-chambered for the .300 Winchester Magnum (7.62×67mm) round. It was not adopted by the US Army due to concerns that operatives in the field would not be able to acquire the special ammo. Also, the available .300 Winchester Magnum ammo that was procured sometimes misfired due to incompletely-burned propellant in the longer cartridge."

I truly would love to get a Coyote and will one day. For now I'll have to settle for my M40A3 built by Iron Brigade (Chandler Sniper). It's one of those things where you just gotta have it and I did after a long search.

From what I understand, they are being built to CF specs so ill take a stab and say right here in Canada. Tho I thought the CF were using McMillan's. Oh well, nice to see CF finally using a Canadian builder for their rifles!!!

The Timberwolf (C14) is the Canadian Forces MRSWS. Coyote is not issued to the Canadian Military...It is in service elsewhere as an adopted system however.

Hmmm. an $8000 Remington 700 with remington barrel or a Canadian-made Coyote with a Krieger barrel. Alos, I haven't seen Remington sponsoring Canadian shooting sports recently. No brainer for me, but it doesn't sound like performance is the driving influence behind the purchase.
