M249 Link Box

Is the box fitted below the SAW considered a mag or just a box to hold link. Found one in my older kit and not sure whether to keep it for the memories or get rid of it.

FYI that box can be modded to hold a 110 rd GSG 10/22 magazine. It makes the old 22 look pretty cool, shades of a C9.
