M249S Semi-Auto Announced

New M249 built from the ground up as a semi-auto. M249 does not seem to be named prohibited, what are the odds this will come to Canada as restricted or even (dare to dream) NR???

Still would be neat, but cost and 5 round belts would make it a small ticket item.

I believe a company in California already makes semi automatic M249's, and they are not cheap. Around 11 grand I think.

Yes, it uses desintagrating links. Reusing your links will end up in them getting messed up. I guess you can use STANAG magazines in the magazine well of the M249 if they incorporate it if you really want to but it's not that reliable.

Has to be for a design made before 1945 or something along those lines for it to be no limit.

The belt has to be an old design, not the firearm. This was a wrinkle to accomodate cloth belt fed Vickers and Brownings. So, if anyone knows of a pre-1945 small diameter belt-fed MG please speak up.
