M2A1 Halftrack Resto dialup beware

maybe they had gloves? if you happened to have a 75mm and a guncrew aboard, there would be gloves; probably the mortar as well; hence the glove box; there were glove boxes on the swift and rag boats,( sharp tin affairs that could cut your hands if you weren't careful- also known as "binnage"

Thats funny. It seems they are the first to go missing. I have seen them going for 100+ all day on ebay. The lock that goes on it went for 400+ in NOS on ebay awhile ago

They used them to carry orders and pass's etc. It could be locked to keep prying eyes away from special papers.

For some reason it seems amusing that the M2A1 had a glove box... just sayin'.

Got it all blasted down yet? That bulkhead looks to be a pretty hefty piece of steel and will likely look mostly new just from a sandblast.

Ok, here are some current pics.

I sent out the brake and clutch assembly which is also the cab mount. After 2 months they are almost done making me new bushings. I have painted a lot of the armor and collected all new door hardware. Its killing me cause the cab has to go on first before any other panels. Everything bolts on to the cab. I sent out the rad to be tested and when it can back it was missing the rad cap and part of the upper fan shrowed bracket so back it went. Hope this week I will get both back. It won't take long once the cab is on to get all the armor in have painted bolted on.

Too bad about the rad - hope they didn't lose the parts? Interesting they had to make bushings - I guess the parts are no longer available.

Can't wait to see the next round of pics! :)

Magically those parts appeared once i told them the cost to replace those parts for the rad.

The pivot shaft for the pedal assembly is stepped, and in the mount it has bushings. The pivot shaft had scored bad and the bushings too, so they ended up making me a new shaft, re sized the mount holes and now have the bushings to make.

I had been told it was re-cored a few years ago and never used, but the mounting bracket the surrounds it had loosened off, so i sent it out to be hot tanked (all the openings were never covered up) and pressure tested, and all the brackets re-soldered.

They say it tested good, and needed nothing but the brackets soldered

Cool. Can't wait ot see pics of those parts. Did the rad need rebuilding, or did it test OK?

Well, been a bit, so here's where i'm at as of now

Started to paint all the armor while waiting for the machine shop to make new bushings in the clutch/brake pedal assembly, that also triples as the front cab mount and master cylinder mount. Until i got it back, I couldn't install the cab, which meant all the armor was kicking around
