M2A1 Halftrack Resto dialup beware

Wow, you wouldn't believe how long detailing little items take. I purchased a deact 1919 from a fellow member here, and was able to find the pintle/cradle assembly's to mount it, plus a spare (i guess i'll have to find another 1919 lol. I am waiting on the pintle sockets to be made so i can mount the gun assembly in the rear. I have the 3 main wiring harness's installed, but have allot more wiring to go. All the brakes are set and the front drive sprockets are installed. Soon i'll start fuel lines.

This engine was surplus french military. In the war they did have braided type wiring for the spark plug wires and conduits for the wiring. After the war most county's weren't worried about exact part replacement and did the simple repairs. This engine was sealed and complete from the late 50s and until i got it, never opened. It was complete clutch to fan, oil pan to carb. It was a straight drop in with no need to switch parts

Andy

so the factory distributor didn't require the military style screw together waterproof plugs and wires?...

Went through all 28 pages of this thread and this is just amazing. It's looking great so far and can't wait to see it as it progresses further.

So most of the dash is together, only missing speedo, one dash plaque and voltage gauge. The brass looks blurry because i left the clear wrapping on for now

So today was the big day, last time the engine was run was initial start up by the french army. The paperwork that came with the sealed engine dated 1961. Here is the first fire of this since 1961. So far everything went well.

Click link to see it running for the first time

Hope you don't mind...

She fired right up! Or was there three hours of cursing and throwing tools that didn't make the final edit? :)

Congrats on a significant milestone, mate. VERY nice work.

LOL not at all, can you tell me how ya did it lol, i had no clue

There's a tutorial somewhere here. It's tricky to explain because typing it out makes it want to format...

Type this without spaces:

[ youtube ]

followed by the string of numbers and letters that come after the "+=" sign in the youtube address,

awehbFe3P3U

and then this:

[ / youtube ]

All together, as a string, with no spaces... You end up with this:

Sorry, the lads in der Heer never did write a halftrack repair crew song. :)
