M305 ammo

I have only reload experience on mine since day one. Has never seen a factory round.

They will work very well with reloads, a little of topic but food for thought.

I picked up two boxes of winchester super x 150gr and these things are scary. The bullets are all seated at different depths and two of the casings have some strange indentations on the sides. Just garbage. I laughed at the speal on the back of the box about quality and precise manufacturing. I realise this is cheap ammo and you get what you pay for, but the quality difference between these and a box of average federals for the same price was dissapointing. May have to send them an email.

The Federal Blue box stuff runs almost as nice as reloads through my m305.

They're decently priced, available everywhere, and should theoretically perform better than the Winchester Super-X on game because they use those Speer Hot-Cor bullets instead of standard cup and core.

I'm very WARY of Federal .308 ammo. It is know for soft primers. When I see an M1A or M14S blowup with factory loads, invariably, the user was shooting Federal. Just sayin'...

For factory stuff, I like Remington UMC 150gr FMJ.

I've run a crate of AE 150gr FMJBTs through mine as well as a bunch of boxes of Federal 150gr SP and even some Winchester 150gr Xwhatevers with no hiccups. She only gets handrolled ammo now though :D

This year I've shot:

1100 S&B 148gr FMJ
300 PRIVI 145gr FMJ
300 American Eagle (aka Fedral) 150gr FMJ
and some sighters using 3x different brands of hunting rounds.

They all ran perfectly but I like the S&B the best, mainly because it's the cheapest. I think the PRIVI performed best, but I'm not a good enough shot yet to really know. ;)

Took my new shorty to the range today. Front sight is a bit to the left. First shot high left then a few adjustments. The light was terrible as it was dark and overcast. Also, I was using my prescription shotgun shooting glasses which made it difficult to focus on the front post. Still, the groups were very good with Federal 145 Soft point! The last two shots were under an inch at 50 Meters!

The inside of the receiver was very poorly machined and finished. The outside looks good. The next mod is a Sadlak op spring rod. It is one its way to me. Does M14Doctor have springs in Canada? I will then put the action in the TROY chassis. BTW, the trigger was not so bad.

Regards,
Henry;)

Get a USGI spring to go with your spring guide.

It will get better the more you shoot. My personal experience/preference is not to touch it. Let it mate/wear naturally.
