M305 and Hunting

Hey Spartans

I started off with a scope on it however the areas im hunting in any shot will be under 100-150 yards and I deem that I'm good enough with ironsites to put a round in a killzone at that range.

Also, I used a scope to hunt bear however I was thinking about it and if a bear walked out infront of me I dont want to spend the extra time looking for the target in the scope -- rather use ironsites.

It depends on the area your hunting in, of course.. but I prefer the IS over the scope currently (thats why I have my scope system up for sale in the EE!!).

Having a place to rest your gun on in those longer shots helps.

I have set up my M305 for hunting.

It's got a Leupold Rifleman 3x9 scope on a ARMS mount.

Effing thing is so heavy that I threw a 3 point sling on it...which earned me mockery from my buddies who feel that I am officially a mall ninja.

Two hunting trips this year, and never even saw a legal deer.

Exellent rifle to hunt but the rear aperture is very small sight picture & blurry when aiming between the brush...I would have a clearer shot if I had optics that day.

I've used my M1A for groundhogs in the past. Great results using iron sights and 125 gr. Remington bulk bullets in front of 43.0 gr. W748 powder.

I remember even using a TRW made M14 on earthpigs with a Sierra MK 168 gr match bullet. Works really well.... major blowup... Houston, we are ready for launch.

I used my M305 with scope for Deer hunting this fall. Got a nice little Buck a couple of weeks ago. One shot needed, I love this rifle. To bad that the Liberals don't understand that semi-automatic are used for hunting and want to confiscate my property....
