I've got one of those Millett rails on mine; trouble is, I wind up getting stoppages frequently when spent casings get caught between the rail and the cocking handle as the bolt is closing. I may need to apply a grinder to the underside of the rail, right on that protruding bit with the screw in it.

I was thinking it nice to have the scope close to the bore but the amount of space left for ejecting the spent casings seemed rather small once I had it installed .
One would think Millet would have field tested it before production , to insure it did not interfere with the rifle's operation and reliability ........

Some of the best fun that be had is shooting these rifle with their aperture sights.
Is that a 2009 receiver?
Good luck and have fun. Take an evening to read all the stickies, some very experienced people took a great deal of time and thought to provide it to us free. You will learn the strengths and weaknesses of the platform in general and the Norinco version in particular. These Military pattern rifles would have been issued to young soldiers and their proper operation drilled into their heads. Us civillans get these type rifle alot of times with no understanding of their inherent dangers from misuse or operation.
Remember firstly,..to chamber a round only when stripped from the magazine letting her fly shut, never popped directly into the chamber by hand or closed gently for two very important reasons,... 1. to prevent a slam fire(round put directly into chamber) and 2. to prevent a possible out of battery detonation( riding the action closed, bolt not fully locked)..
Hungry(Tactical teacher) was offering head space checking if you mailed him 3 of your fired cases. A good idea indeed and watch your bolt during routine cleaning for abnormal or accelerated peening on the lugs and making sure both lugs show even wear during the first 100-300 rounds.
Mine has 1000+ with mostly Norinco 762, and the park is only rubbed on the lugs yet with both showing even rubbing, so I'm guessing bolt surface hardness is good at least, and if the same in yours,...head space shouldn't open up prematurely.

I agree 100 % , it's a starting point for many but others just enjoy the stock model and have a great time shooting it .
That's the same POS scope mount I originally bought. It shot worse than the iron sights. I hope yours works better than mine did.
